Give the Kids MusicGive underserved children the benefits of playing music! Give the Kids Music is a philanthropic music team building program that will get your team and community in tune. In a very short time, your team will learn how to play (and in some cases even build) a musical instrument – either harmonica, guitar, flute, or percussion instruments. They’ll learn songs and then be given a short tutorial on how to teach their new skills. Then, it’s time to put those skills to the test as each work team of 8-12 people teaches children how to play the instruments they just learned! At the end of the program the instruments are donated to the charity or school, as well as instructional materials. The children walk away with a head start to a more fulfilling and successful life through the power of music. And they experience a giving world, where people they had never met before cared enough about them to teach them how to play and give them an opportunity to experience the power of music. Your team walks away not only having gotten new musical and educational skills (many of our participants report back that they went home and wowed their own children with their new skills) but having had a powerful experience of connection with children and giving to a community that really could use it, of truly making a difference and changing lives for the better. Your team will be able to see first-hand the benefits of playing music in a young person’s life. And more importantly, they are the ones that will provide that benefit! This unforgettable program empowers teams in the corporate world and the next generation to work together, play together and care together.
Benefits for the Kids
Music education is not only important for its incredible intrinsic value, but research consistently demonstrates:
The Need
The benefits of music education are well documented and the need has never been greater. A recent study of the effects of No Child Left Behind shows that it is taking a toll on music education, especially in low-income areas. Virtually all (97 percent) school districts serving large numbers of low-income children mandated less time on the arts and more on language arts instruction due to state testing.
Kids are missing out in a part of education that has perhaps the greatest potential to make their lives more fulfilled and wonderful. And research shows that music education has the power to propel them into greater success scholastically and later on when they reach the workforce.
